Before & After

Here are a few of our recent cases. It is our intention to update this gallery regularly to give you, the patient, an insight into what we can achieve here at Durham City Smiles. We must stress these are our own patients, and we hope you will agree there has been a vast improvement. Although perfection is the goal, it may not always be attainable, but we feel that a vast improvement is a result worth celebrating.

Before

After

Latest Case: This lady wasn’t happy with her smile and her gap. We restored her smile with a combination of emax ceramic bridges and veneers. The second picture is 5 minutes after fitting so the gums haven’t had time to settle after temporisation, but she was going back to Spain so we had to take photos at this stage.

Before

After

Latest Case: This gentleman came to us with quite severe erosion of his dental enamel, causing him concern about his appearance. His smile was restored with 6 emax porcelain veneers, and the second photo is after 6 months in place

Latest Case: This young lady had a severe erosion problem due to a longterm medical condition. There was severe damage to the enamel and she was embarrassed to smile. We restored her smile and her self esteem with 8 emax ceramic crowns, and now she has a lovely smile which she proudly shows everyone.

Latest Case: This lady came to see us with a very worn smile, and was very self conscious of the face she showed the world. So she just didn’t smile much at all, or hid behind her hand.

We decided to revitalise her smile with 6 Emax porcelain veneers, and now she smiles all the time at everyone. She’s just returned for a review today 1 month after completion and is a very happy lady.

Latest Case: This lady came to us after being referred by a friend we’d treated earlier. She’d had some pretty awful dental experience, and we really wanted to put that right. We’ve had to concentrate on the upper jaw only for now, but it was decided to treat these teeth with a combination of Zirconia/Emax and all Emax pressable ceramic crowns. 4 Zirconia crowns were placed on the premolars, 2 on each side. And the canine/incisor region was restored with Emax pressable ceramic crowns. And the patient is delighted with the result and had many compliments on her new smile, mainly along the lines that she does actually smile now.

Case 1: This lady asked if there was anything that could be done to straighten her teeth and improve her smile. She wasn’t prepared to undergo orthodontic treatment to straighten them with braces, so we provided 5 ceramic veneers, and 1 ceramic crown.

Case 2: This chap, by his own admission “doesn’t smile a lot” but he did want something doing about his worn and crooked smile. Orthodontic braces were not an option for him, so a combination of ceramic crowns and veneers were placed. And he does actually smile more now, just not very wide! Although he assures us that he is really happy with the result.

Case 3: This chap was not really bothered by the appearance of his front teeth, and had lived with them for years, until one day he came in and asked for something to be done.

Treatment: We prepared 2 ceramic crowns, and the post op photo was taken at the fit appointment, hence a little cement can be seen. He left delighted, but hasn’t come in for a review and photo…..yet.

Case 4: This gentleman was attending a wedding in Los Angeles, and wasn’t happy to go with his smile as it was, to the land of Hollywood Teeth.

Although we don’t favour the Tom Cruise super white look, he wanted his smile to be improved without looking false, and I think we achieved that. He went to the wedding and was complimented upon his nice smile. High praise indeed and a very favourable result for all.

Case 5: A lady in her 60’s, unhappy with her smile.

Treatment: Cosmetic makeover of crooked and discoloured teeth using combination of ceramic crowns and a 3 unit Lava bridge.

Case 6: Gentleman who swims every day, the chlorine in the water over time has caused erosion and discolouration.

Treatment: Cosmetic makeover to restore worn stained teeth with veneers.

Case 7: Nervous lady who’d neglected her teeth for years, but finally got fed up with being embarrassed to smile.

Treatment: Extensive rebuild of upper jaw to replace old partial denture with 2 all ceramic fixed bridges, to give a happy smile.

Case 8: This patient had become unhappy with her smile and used to hide behind her hand.

Treatment: Cosmetic makeover to restore worn stained teeth, using combination of veneers and ceramic crowns.

Case 9: With the terrible old denture and crowns removed the patient is now happy to smile openly again, something her friends say she hadn’t done for years.

Treatment: Extensive restoration to replace awful partial denture and old crowns, with a bridge and new crowns.

Case 10: A 16 year old girl unhappy with her mottled and gappy teeth.

Treatment: Four pressable porcelain veneers.

Case 11: This gentleman decided to give his wife a Christmas surprise and get his smile fixed!

Treatment: A four tooth bridge. He wouldn’t let us touch his other teeth as this was his only perceived problem.

Case 12: A lady from Derbyshire, she’d been told nothing could be done and she should have all her teeth out and dentures. As a retired dental nurse, she wasn’t happy with this and was referred by a friend of mine to see us.

Treatment: A mix of pressable porcelain crowns and bridgework.

Case 13: This lady was unhappy with the margins of her old crowns, and the gaps.

Treatment: Four pressable porcelain crowns.

Case 14: This lady was a very phobic patient, and came to us in a bit of a state, having not seen a dentist for years. She would always cover her mouth when she smiled due to the appearance of her teeth.

Treatment: Six pressable porcelain crowns. We start on the lowers later this year.

Case 15: This gentleman worked most of his life away from home, and was always too busy to seek definitive dental care. After retirement he was able to put right all the remedial care he’d had done previously.

Treatment: Ten pressable porcelain crowns.

Case 16: An octogenarian gentleman who hated his partial denture with a passion.

Treatment Placement of two Astratech implants, later restored with two pressable porcelain crowns.

Case 17: This young lady hated her gapped and discoloured teeth.

Treatment: Six pressable porcelain veneers. We’re doing the lowers for her this summer.

Case 18: This young man was involved in an accident at work, and lost two teeth, and fractured another.

Treatment: Astratech implants to replace the missing teeth, followed by pressable porcelain crowns on these and the other fractured incisor.
